Mechanism

Disrupts microbial membranes via its amphipathic alpha-helical structure and acts as an immune alarmin through FPRL1, P2X7, and EGFR signaling, recruiting and activating immune cells.

Overview

LL-37 is the only human cathelicidin antimicrobial peptide, with broad-spectrum activity against bacteria, viruses, fungi, and biofilms. It also modulates innate and adaptive immunity and supports wound healing. It is used experimentally for chronic infections and immune dysregulation.
